Discography of Carbon Silicon
Carbon Silicon have been releasing the fruits of their daily, five hour studio sessions on to the internet. Recorded and uploaded from their studio in an industrial park in West London, Carbon Silicon have been releasing their work free to the public as it gets made. The first two albums were a collection of mostly already released tracks along with some new material. Both albums were released in late 2006 and could be downloaded for free from the band’s website in until the spring of 2007. The albums, ATOM and The Western Front serve as a statement of what the band thought was the best from their previous studio work, as the two albums featured songs from all four of their previous studio collections, Homecoming, The Grand Delusion, Sample this, Peace, and Dope Factory Boogie. Carbon Silicon, then decided to alter their template of releasing only on the internet, with the release last year of their latest album The Last Post and Carbon Casino which again featured tracks from all their previous collections but remixed by Bill Price at London’s Metropolis studios. Their website features the band’s latest work, including The Crack-up Suite, a self styled mini studio album featuring six songs available for free download.
Leading with the upbeat T.F Madness and ending with Falun Gong Love Song via anger filled The System, the Crack-up Suite is classic Mick Jones. The site now also includes two new collaborations, written with the aid of Gary Kemp, formally of Spandau Ballet. The Inconvenience of Truth and Maybe That’s the Meaning of Life have both Kemp’s and Jones’ vocals shaking up the sound of Carbon Silicon, as they use a more electro tinge to their sound. The band has always been keen to stay fresh, and the funkiness of The Inconvenience of Truth definitely does that. All the downloadable tracks come with their own hi-resolution ‘cover’ artwork. If you missed the band’s free releases of their albums, ATOM and The Western Front then their Myspace.com page hosts four excellent tracks from these. Finally the 2008 edit of The News is fast becoming a hit on YouTube. Featuring a new animated video from the No.1 track of ATOM, The News is excellent stuff.
